Current release: Camino 2.0.7

The most recent Camino release is version 2.0.7 (Universal Binary, for Intel, PowerPC, needs Mac OS X 10.4 or higher). Camino 2.0.7 multilingual contains: Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, English (US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish. Camino 2.0 users should receive notice of the new version by way of the internal software update engine. If you have not set up Camino to check automatically for new versions, use the "Check for updates..." item in the Application menu. You might even download the latest preview version of Camino 2.1 and (if no one has already done it) localize it!

Camino 1.6.1 l10n status

The Camino team has recently finalized an RC for Camino 1.6.1. Unlike other dot-dot.x updates, this one carries a small amount of strings to update, along with the usual release notes work. Moreover, this time the localized updated description showing up through the Sparkle framework should go live.

Release notes can be found at Bug 431626, or directly inside the RC build.
The update description for Sparkle can be found (the original) and uploaded (the translation, as file, please) at Bug 433072

As of Sat. May 17th, I have received all the needed files from the l10n teams.

Camino 1.6 l10n status

Camino 1.6 is getting closer and everything is ready for the final l10n rush.
PLASE NOTE - DEADLINE FOR THE ML PACKAGE: April 15th 11:00PM (CEST)
The detailed l10 status matrix is now visible at the Camino Wiki. As you can see, also languages that were not available for Camino 1.5 are listed.
Some of them received some kind of treatment in the past, some of them have been added to the list because we found out that at least 2 users have registered to this website, then they could possibly build a new l10n team (at least 1 translator and 1 reviewer).

Existing and new teams should now use comments to this post in order to provide information about the status of their work. This post will remain atop of our home page while we're working on Camino 1.6.

Introductory iLocalize tutorial

Thanks to Russian contributor Igor Pryadkin, we have a published draft of our very first iLocalize tutorial.
Check it out and leave comments at: http://cl10n.rwx.it/ilocalize-introduction

Quiet, not still: Camino 1.6 string-freeze, new AppleGlot fixes Intel flaws, we may iLocalize

A short bulletin to tell about things going on among l10n teams.

- Camino 1.6 is "string-frozen". nothing should change in .strings & .nib files until the release, so it's a very good time to work on localization, both for existing teams and for new ones. You can download a nightly build from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/camino/nightly/latest-1.6-M1.8/ and...

- ... and... well the next news would be that finally we have an Intel-aware build of AppleGlot out there: http://developer.apple.com/internationalization/download/ (Apple Developer Connection free account needed to download), but...

- but still there are some flaws, one of them being that ADViewer is and will remain broken on Leopard. AppleGlot's further development is uncertain (and will likely take ages between releases, if any), so some of us decided to give a try at alternatives, namely iLocalize (http://www.ilocalize.com/ilocalize/), a tool that does most of the things done by the now-odd couple AppleGlot+ADViewer, in quite a polished way and, by the way, it has now a free licensing option, friendly to open-source based projects like Camino.

We're still trying to figure out how good localized Camino packages come out of it. We're working on it and on some kind of introductory tutorial. Stay tuned.

Currently working on Camino 1.5.4

We are translating the release notes for 1.5.4, a maintenance release which won't see strings changes inside the package. There won't be any language additions in this multilingual release.
The original English release notes to be translated can be downloaded at this URL: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=290574
The following table (which will be updated) reflects the translation status for each of the languages available. [Completed. Yeah!]
